Cool Runnings

Based on a true story, this is the comedic saga of four Jamaican athletes going to extremes to compete as bobsled racers at the Winter Olympics. With few resources and virtually no clue about winter sports, it’s an uphill course for this troupe from the tropics who are sliding on thin ice as they go for the gold in Calgary, Canada. Refusing to let anything stand in their way, these four Jamaicans enlist the help of a down-and-out ex-champion American slider named Irv. Unavoidably drawn back to a sport he had come to loathe, Irv is faced with coaching a team of complete novices. But once committed, he is determined to turn them around and to somehow right the wrongs of his own failed career. It’s a bumpy ride but with pride, determination, and dignity, the bobsledders make their impossible dreams come true.

5 Stars Love the movie!
It came after a few days, and worked great when I watched it with my friends.

4 Stars JAMAICA, BOBSLED & DISNEY ALL IN THE SAME SENTENCE MAKE FOR A COOL MOVIE
Based on the true story of the 1988 Jamaica Olympic bobsled team. How much of the details of the film are actual facts is unknown but it is true that Jamaica did send a four man bobsled team to the 1988 Olympics in Calgary. This is the funny and inspiring story of how it came about, how they got there and what happened once they arrived. I’m not always a big John Candy fan but I think you’ll like him in this film. More than just a comedy - I start laughing when I hear Jamaica, Olympic and bobsled all in the same sentence - this is a film about a world class athlete who loses his chance to compete in the Summer Olympics and is determined to get to the Olympics no matter how. What happens when he and John Candy, a former Olympic Gold Medalist in bobsledding for the USA, who is a down and out bookie living in Jamaica, get together is pure fun and magic. While there is no easy way to learn bobsledding in Jamaica, it won’t be for lack of trying if they don’t. This is the kind of film that Walt Disney built its reputation on. An upbeat soundtrack of Reggae music adds to the film as well as the great scenery. A fun evening for the whole family.

In this film full of magic, hope and inspiration the director will take you on a fabulous journey into the world of manifestation, power of intention and the Law of Attraction.

After quitting his job at Nickelodeon (MTV Networks) Oren Stambouli decided that he was going to follow the flow of live to find people around the world that were pursuing their dreams.

He understood that in order for this film to have an effect on people he had to find every day people pursuing “impossible” dreams and while shooting the film they will achieve them. On top of that he had an extra challenge; he didn’t have a camera, a budget or even a script. But he had a story to tell and nothing was going to stop him from achieving his own dream.

Welcome to Trust 22, were believing in a dream is the first step to seeing it, and not the last one.

5 Stars What a gift! Get INSPIRED!
I loved waking up today (Saturday) with the plan to watch TRUST22 and then continue in the pursuit of my dreams. The reviews gave me the faith to get the movie and plan to start the weekend with it. My dream is bold.

This movie is whatever you want it be. For me, I wanted something that spoke directly to dreamers. Oh, did it deliver. It didn’t just speak of the “easy” parts of pursuing your dreams… it also mentions the moments of self-sabotage in the guise of logic. Then it pointed out the switching of their state-of-mind inside and what follows.

I think we are all dreamers. Most of us are focused on working at their current job to get them to where they want to be. When they realize working there is NOT getting them anywhere, they give up altogether and point out the dream was unrealistic. Ouch!

This movie reminds us what is possible. Personally, it rekindles the fire within me for what I am here to do and be. Sure it shares ideas on how to move forward but more importantly, I think it helps keep one open to the possibility of the greatest possible outcome— instead of the least. The making of the movie is built on the same techniques that it points out in other people’s dreams all over the world. As humans we need to expose ourselves to movies just like this. I look forward to the next one.

This DVD was release in 2006 and I watched it Feb 16th of 2008. Perfect timing.

2 Stars Not what I was looking for
I didn’t get a great deal out of this DVD. There are a lot of subtitles and, at least on my TV, they were very hard to read. If your looking for a “how to” this isn’t it, in my opinion. This is more of a “I believed and it worked for me.”

2 Stars ok
to make a movie about making a movie …

well I didnt like it very much I liked the scenes from the school in africa though lots of talented kids there

5 Stars Inspirational
I didn’t know what to expect before I started watching. As it unfolded, I felt increasingly curious about the outcome and started, honestly, rooting for the eventual success of the different stories depicted. There are some unbelievably moving moments within the film, and it left me with a feeling of hope and serenity.

I highly recommend it, both as a self-help message, and as a true testament to high-minded ideas.

1 Star A complete waste of $18
I excitedly waited for this movie. It has such wonderful reviews… it just had to be good. No it wasn’t. It was one of the worst documentaries I’ve seen in … well never. I have What the Bleep and other movies and believe me this is not in that league at all It was so disappointing. Technically the sound wasn’t too good and the subtitles were unreadable from your armchair. But it’s the content that floored me. The nicest thing about the movie was watching an African man sing opera, and the stunning backround of South Africa ans that’s why I gave it one star. It wasn’t inspirational… it was just 3 or 4 young white people who took a trip to S. Africa to visit a black college. There wasn’t much mention of how they worked on their abundance … its just that money just appeared. There was no real philosophy… just an amateur joy ride. I am very positive and that is probably why I was duped by the reviews to buy this. I just feel that the money I spent was just a waste. I find it incredible that it has so many great reviews. I have to question that. Buy it if you must, but then please leave a honest review like I did. How it won any award is beyond me. I could understand if it was in the amateur section. I have never returned a movie from Amazon, but me and my hubby were so disappointed I told them I was returning it due to the quality and performance. I don’t usually make a mistake in choice of movies, but I really made a doodoo here.
